Privacy notice
This privacy notice explains how Spire Maths handles personal information when people use this website, contact us, use our maths tools and programmes, or purchase and complete a family course. It should be read alongside our terms and cookie policy. Children can also read our short, child-friendly course privacy explanation.
Who we collect information about
- Teachers, school staff, parents or other adults who contact us.
- People who create a free beta account, ask about future subscriptions, school access or support.
- Parents or carers who purchase a course and children who complete it through a parent-managed profile.
- Website visitors, where basic technical information is collected to keep the site secure and working properly.
The classroom resources do not require pupil accounts. For a purchased family course, the adult owns the account and may create a child profile using a first name or nickname only.
Information we may collect
- Contact details, such as your name, email address, school name and message, if you send an enquiry.
- Account details, such as your name, login email address, password authentication records and beta access role.
- Course details, such as a child nickname, purchased course, access dates, answers, raw scores, completed days and session duration.
- Basic technical information, such as browser type, device type, approximate location, pages visited and security logs.
- Payment, consent, refund and invoice records. Card details and the adult billing address are handled by Stripe rather than stored directly by Spire Maths.
How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and provide support.
- To create and manage free beta accounts and provide access to maths tools, programmes and future subscription features.
- To manage school licences, invoices and account administration.
- To maintain the security, reliability and performance of the website.
- To provide paid course access, mark original questions, save progress and show the parent a topic-level report and suggested next action.
- To understand which resources are useful, where analytics are enabled with the correct controls.
Legal basis
We process adult account and purchase information where it is needed to perform the course contract, respond to a request or meet legal obligations. Minimal child progress information is used for our legitimate interest in delivering the educational service requested by the parent, with high-privacy defaults and parent control. Where consent is required, for example for non-essential cookies or marketing, we will ask for it separately.
Sharing information
We use trusted providers including Netlify for hosting and adult authentication, Supabase for course records, Stripe for payment processing and, when configured, Resend for purchase confirmation email. They should only process information for the agreed purpose. We may also share information if required by law or to protect the website and its users. We do not sell children's information.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Course progress is intended to be deleted 12 months after access ends unless a parent requests earlier deletion or a dispute requires temporary retention. Account, payment and invoice records may need to be kept longer for legal, tax or audit reasons.
Your rights
You may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to some uses, restrict processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. To make a request, contact us using the details on the contact page.
Children and pupils
Children do not create course accounts or provide an email, password, date of birth or school. A parent chooses a first name or nickname and controls the profile. We use the child's answers and raw course scores only to mark work, restore progress and create the parent's report. There are no adverts, public profiles, chat, geolocation, behavioural marketing or automated pass predictions.
